Joint soreness and immobility can be incredibly frustrating as it reduces energy and the ability to carry out daily activities. Overtime, wear and tear on joints, tendons, and connective tissue can accumulate causing more pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion.

OptiMSM® has been shown through research studies to support joint and connective tissue health. A study published in the Journal of International Society of Sports Nutrition recruited 22 runners to take the sulfur-based nutritional supplement, or a placebo, to determine the effects on muscle and joint pain. Runners participating in a half marathon experienced less joint and muscle pain while taking MSM supplementation after the race was finished, when compared to the placebo group.

A study published in the FASEB Journal found that exercise-induced muscle soreness and inflammation is reduced with MSM. Rodney Benjamin, the director of research, development, and technical support at Bergstrom Nutrition, told Nutritional Outlook that “there are some differences found in this study that may suggest there may be additional mechanisms at play that fall outside of increased antioxidant capacity.” Therefore, more studies are in place to discover how MSM is effective in supporting healthy joints and muscles.
